“DATB's are a part of our "Clone Series" pickups.
In June of 1971 Duane Allman decided to add a second LP to his arsenal. Through his friend Billy Gibbons he was put in touch with a dealer from whom he would acquire the tobacco burst '59 that affectionately became known as "Hot Lanta". These pickups are spec on clones of those legendary PAFs that are heard on the Fillmore recordings. For the full story on how these came to be check out the Stocktone bulletin board under "How the Duane Allman Clones came to be"
Due to the lack of an automatic shut off counter this set of pickups both got some extra wire wrapped around them. The neck pickup is slightly hot for the PAF era, and the bridge pickup is even hotter. This set of pickups provided a perfect counterpoint to the tones Duane was getting from his other '59 cherry burst.
With these faithful clones in the neck position, you can achieve all of the soulful saxophone like note bloom that a Statesboro blues man can handle. In the middle position you can get a thick twang that is out of this world. In the bridge position you can part the mix like Moses parted the red sea and chop that whipping post off at the ground.
With the tonal versatility that these pickups are capable of you could just as easily blaze a trail in today's music as you could invoke those legendary tones of the past.

Having been thrilled w/ the “Sugar Brown’s” I have in my 50’s Standard LP, I decided to see what kind of magic Sherman would be able to work up for my 58 Reissue. I recently opted to go with a set of the DATB’s in leui of the stock custom buckers. It would be an understatement to say this bridge can just really sing, while the neck pickup has this beautiful and soulful woody punch. These pickups just really cut through with such a clarity and PAF richness to them. I absolutely recommend a set!
