The story behind these pickups is that they were a challenge posed by a dear friend, writer/editor for a well-known guitar magazine, to reproduce some iconic tones from a certain song by a little old band from Texas.

This set will deliver everything you expect from a vintage set of PAF’s. They are constructed with aged magnets, mismatched coils, and double cream bobbins. Warm and wooly on one end of the spectrum and cutting clean on the other. They sound like the truth, mixed with some warm sweet butter, and caramelized in a well-seasoned skillet.

Specs: Neck 7.26k (A2 mag) / Bridge 8.29k (A4 mag) / Uncovered double cream bobbins, Un-Potted / Braided 2 conductor lead

We all dig Billy Gibbons, right?

I’ve used these pups, and if you love early Billy Gibbons/ZZ Top, with a big helping of Allman Brothers and early Eric Clapton Bluesbreaker-era tones, these pups are for you! These pups are the perect set to drive the front end of an old Marshall or Fender amp into that sweet smooth breakup we grew up hearing on records back in the early 70’s. Try a set, you’ll dig ‘em!

And by the way, the Stockton family are good folks to boot! And Sherman’s a fine picker, he knows tone!

Happy Re-Peat Customer/Gibbons Tone for Days!

There isn’t a nicer guy to work w/ than Sherman. He will definitely get you the sound you are chasing. It’s made me a very happy repeat customer! I currently have a set of the “Sugar Brown’s” in one of my Les Paul’s. The clarity w/ these pickups is amazing! Overall, they just really nail the early Billy Gibbons/PAF sound with a load of dynamic range and responsiveness to a players attack. They also clean up incredibly well w/ your pots. I highly recommended a set of these pickups!!!
